The TV Shows 90s Kids Grew Up Watching

Television for us 90s kids had a whole different meaning. It wasn’t saas bahu serials or stupid Chhota Bheem cartoon that are far from being entertaining or educational. We had some classic shows to see that not only taught us a great deal on friendship, bravery and happiness but also gave us characters that became our childhood heroes. Following are some of the TV shows 90s kids grew up watching –

Aahat
In a world where The Kapil Sharma Show didn’t exist, things were simple. Sony TV gave us our version of Supernatural and The Walking Dead with terrible editing and VFX. At that time however, those bathed in make-up ghosts used to scare the shit out of everyone, making it all believable. Those were the days!

Shaktimaan
Who was your favourite superhero growing up? If you’re going to say any hero from the Marvel or DC universe, you’re either not desi or not born in the 90s. For us 90s kids, our favourite superhero is always going to be the spinning like a top, lady killer and the one dreaded by the criminals, Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkaar Naath Shastri aka Shaktimaan.

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai
Speaking of comedy shows that had us all in splits, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai was one of the best things to happen to Indian television. Monisha’s categorically middle class attitude towards life, Maya’s high class life, Indravardhan and his sarcasm, and Rosesh’s poems have a special place in our hearts. Praise the lord as it returns as a web series on May 16th on Hotstar.
