Television is full of powerful woman characters who have inspired throughout their journey on screen. It is exciting to watch them conquer new worlds everyday, and even though they don’t exist in reality, we love them with all our hearts. Following are the best woman characters on TV –
1. Daenerys Targaryen (GOT)
One thing we can all agree on is that Dany is one of the most fierce and badass female characters we have ever witnessed on television. Game of Thrones, being a worldwide phenomenon, has given us many characters we have grown to love with our hearts but there’s a certain respect we have for Dany when she smashes the patriarchy in Westeros and shows them how she’s no less than any man out there in the GOT world. You go, Dany!
2. Carrie Bradshaw (SATC)
Sex and the City, based on Candace Bushnell’s best selling novel was a revolutionary show. A story of four women was not something the world was ready to see. The late 90s saw a revolution in the kind of shows being made and watched, and Carrie Bradshaw became a household name with it. She told us how it’s okay to have your heart broken and it’s okay to accept yourself for who you are. Carrie was us, we were Carrie.
3. Samantha Jones (SATC)
A special mention from the same series needs to be given to Samantha Jones who became the voice of every woman and still continues to rule our hearts with her witty one liners and cattiness. Samantha was unapologetic. She didn’t care what the world said about her, or thought about her. She knew who she was and that was enough. If Carrie taught us to be ourselves, Samantha taught us to not be ashamed of who we really are.
4. Rachel Green (Friends)
Friends is a cult TV show that every human being needs to see. All the six characters have a special place in our hearts and there’s no comparing them in any circumstances. However, if we were to name a woman character that inspired every women in real life. Be it the making it on her own, cribbing over Ross, being unsure of her feelings, or saying things out-front when she believed in it, Rachel Green will always be an inspiring character.
5. Brooke Davis (One Tree Hill)
One Tree Hill wasn’t all about Lucas and Peyton. It wasn’t even about basketball and cheer leading. It was about friendships and Brooke Davis was a character that understood that more than anything else. From being a spoiled brat to an absolute sweetheart over the course of nine seasons where we saw her grow. She had a shady past but she never shied away from it. In fact, she embraced it. Brooke taught us to be beautiful, inside out.
6. Robin Scherbatsky (HIMYM)
How I Met Your Mother may not have got down too well with all the fans who were waiting to know who does Ted end up with and finding out it was Robin. But, we can all agree Robin was a great character. In the end, we all ended up hating Ted but for Robin, we’re all crazy. She was funny, smart, witty and most importantly, a good human being. Her relationship with Barney was the most adorable thing on earth making Robin Scherbatsky an instant fan favourite.
Who run the world, Girls.
