Friday started on a good note for all GOT fans in India as HBO dropped a new teaser that confirms that the end is near. Game of thrones returns on July 16, and we just cannot wait anymore. 6 seasons of loving and hating the series, watching our favourite characters die and still watching with thorns in our hearts, GoT just has two more seasons to go. And damn right, we’re getting to business now.
The teaser is a quick verbal reminder of what we’ve all seen. Daenerys’s ambition to rule the Seven Kingdoms, Ned Stark’s patented words saying how Winter Is Coming, Roose Bolton’s “The Lannisters send their regards” where we hear the painful cry of Catelyn Stark, Cersei saying how everyone else is the enemy, Joffrey’s puny King words of cowardice and to conclude, Jon’s words giving a glimpse into what to expect, is a mixture of what happened and what is about to happen.
By now, we fans do have an idea about what the next two seasons are going to cover. In season 6, we saw Daenerys finally making a move towards Westeros after five seasons of saying that she’s going to. Cersei was proclaimed the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, much to the dismay of Jaime, who sees the signs of the Mad King is her. But Cersei is here to avenge the death of all of her children. She knows that Maggy’s prophecy will be true, but she’s not going to give it up all this easy. She’ll perish, but she’ll make sure the world does too.
Jon knows what the real war is. He has seen the army of the dead, and he knows it will not be easy to control them. With the other part of the world oblivious to this, including Daenerys whose only ambition is reign, it is going to be very exciting when the White Walkers enter the Seven Kingdoms.
With all this anticipation, we cannot really wait to see what happens in got next. The war of the queens, the war of the White Walkers and the living, and the fate of Jon Snow is all being awaited. July 16 needs to come quickly.
