If I had to describe the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 teaser in two words, it would be BABY GROOT. In 2014 when Guardians of the Galaxy came out, we all agreed that there could be nothing cuter than Groot, and we’ve been proved wrong. A character whose entire vocabulary revolves around “I Am Groot” steals the entire show away in the the new teaser.
Everyone who has seen the first installment knows that grown up Groot sacrificed his life to save Peter, Gamora, Rocket and Drax in the movie. Rocket planted a part of him, and in the mid-credit scene of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, we see Baby Groot dancing to Jackson 5’s I Want You Back. That’s when we knew we’re going to see more of the character. But no one ever imagined Baby Groot to be this cute.
In Vol. 2, Peter Quill and his team are going to go on more adventures fighting the evils of space. However, this is going to be an important movie for MCU with respect to the Infinity Stones. Thanos was shown for the very first time in Guardians of the Galaxy where the sub story of him wanting all the Infinity Stones to conquer the universe was introduced. With Ronan’s stupidity, one Infinity Stone is with the Nova Corps. The last Infinity Stone’s location is still unknown. Maybe with Vol. 2, we’ll know where it is which will begin Thanos’s quest to collect them all.
Peter Quill’s dad is still unknown to everyone accept Yondu, and there may be some light thrown on his father for the first time. In the last part of the teaser, Peter’s feelings for Gamora are out in the open, as Drax has quite a laughter out of it. Vol. 2 may have a romantic relationship developing between the two characters which is something the audience wants to see.
The highlight of the movie, judging by the teaser, is definitely going to be Baby Groot. In one scene, Rocket has an atomic bomb and he explains Baby Groot why he should not be pressing the button. In a very serious monologue, Rocket tells him how pressing the button will lead to destruction and asks Baby Groot to repeat what he just said. Saying “I am Groot”, he points his finger at the button which makes Rocket freak out. To top it all, he runs away yelling “I Am Grooooot” with the bomb in his hands, while Rocket can only say, “that’s a really bad sign.”
We don’t know who they will be fighting this time, but we definitely know it’s going to be an action-packed fun ride. Rocket will as usual be hilarious, but this time, he has to tackle Baby Groot which seems like a difficult task. And boy, aren’t we waiting to see that in 3D!
Releasing on May 5th 2017, get ready to watch Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer and the adorable Baby Groot assembling once again to save the universe in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
